About Double Entry Doors
Everything you want to know about Ensemble® Double Entry Doors.
What configurations are available for double entry doors?
Two options: a single operable panel with one fixed panel separated by a mullion (active door hinged on mullion or jamb), or two hinged operable panels (active + passive). The passive panel has a lock to hold it in place when only one door is opened.
Can I add sidelights or a transom to a double entry door?
Yes. Sidelights can be added on either or both sides, and transom windows (rectangular or specialty shaped) can be added above the doors to increase light and architectural interest.
Are double entry doors secure?
Yes. Dual-composite frames, reinforced LVL panels, routed hinge pockets, and extra-thick strike/backer plates deliver industry-recognized forced-entry resistance. The mortise lock assembly achieves Grade 30 and 40 security ratings per ASTM F476 testing.
What are the five panel families available for double doors?
Solid panel, Full and partial light, Oval light, Craftsman light, and Specialty light — all with high-definition embossments and wood texture options across 38 total style configurations.
Are double entry doors energy efficient?
Yes. Foam-filled panels, PG and NFRC certifications, a patented driven-rain-management sill, and a wide variety of glass options (dual- and triple-pane, various coatings) maximize energy performance for most climate zones.
